Limitation: heat pumps work best when air temperatures are above 50°F, making them ideal for Florida's climate. They heat more slowly than gas (raising water temperature 1–2°F per hour vs. 3–5°F for gas).  GAS HEATER (Natural Gas or Propane): A gas heater burns natural gas or propane to heat pool water directly. It heats rapidly regardless of air temperature and can raise water temperature quickly on demand. The Pentair MasterTemp is our preferred gas heater. Best for: pools used seasonally or infrequently, or for heating a spa quickly before use.
